Brief description of the activity/assessment
Interaction of students in online classes has been a challenge for many teachers. Asking students to unmute and speak is becoming a non-responsive request to many students. Flipgrid.com, a simple, free, and accessible video discussion platform, is providing effective solutions to student engagement in online, blended, and asynchronous classes. It allows teachers to create orally submitted tasks, in video format, where students record videos to respond to different questions and discussion topics. This tool builds a strong learning community in the classroom and promotes interaction among peers by viewing and responding to each other’s video posts. Teachers can create a classroom, enroll students, start the Flipgrid video sharing experience, and provide feedback to students. It could be used in different liberal arts classrooms to improve students’ digital literacies and communication skills. Finally, it is user friendly with different features of video recording, editing and adding context.
