Brief description of the activity and/or assessment

Invite students develop their Artificial Intelligence Literacy with choices of what they would like to focus on. The assignment includes:

  1. A unified reading that gives an overview of critical AI literacy,
  2. A choice between two podcasts to listen to
  3. A reflection assignment reflecting on what they learned from the reading and podcast
  4. A hands-on activity that they choose from among a selection of activities posted on the AI Pedagogy Project (from Harvard Metalab) which students then either present in class or record a video about.

You will learn about the different elements of critical AI literacy, and choose an activity to help improve your own skills in one of the elements of critical AI literacy, then share what you have learned with the rest of the class.

Around three hours at home, five minutes each in a class presentation or video recording.

Necessary tools/technologies

Internet connection. Some activities need access to AI platforms (most are doable with free AI tools). Free blogging platform (e.g. WordPress) for posting their reflections, but students can also just submit to an LMS (E.g. Blackboard or Canvas).
