These are normally used to generate an indicative overall mark of all assessment tasks that students undertake in a module (assuming that provisional grades for all assessment tasks are published in the Grade Center).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0From the\u00a0<strong>Control Panel<\/strong>, click\u00a0<strong>Grade Center<\/strong>\u00a0then\u00a0<strong>Full Grade Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Once the Grade Center has loaded, click the chevron next to\u00a0<strong>Create Weighted Column<\/strong>\u00a0and select\u00a0<strong>Weighted Column<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong>&nbsp;On the&nbsp;<strong>Create Weighted Column<\/strong>&nbsp;page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scroll to&nbsp;<strong>Column Information<\/strong>, enter a&nbsp;<strong>Name<\/strong>&nbsp;for the weighted column, e.g. &#8216;Weighted Total&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/telhelp.shu.ac.uk\/sites\/students.shu.ac.uk.staffkb\/files\/images\/create_weighted_column.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, scroll down to&nbsp;<strong>Select Columns<\/strong>&nbsp;and select the columns you wish to apply a weighting to&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<strong>Columns to Select<\/strong>&nbsp;box on the left, then click the right facing chevron to move the column into the&nbsp;<strong>Selected Columns<\/strong>&nbsp;area. You can&nbsp;enter the&nbsp;<strong>weightings<\/strong>&nbsp;the for the selected columns.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>Total Weight<\/strong>&nbsp;should equal 100%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/telhelp.shu.ac.uk\/sites\/students.shu.ac.uk.staffkb\/files\/images\/create_weighted_column_add_weights.PNG\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You can select more than one column by holding down CTRL on the keyboard and then selecting the names of the columns to select.<\/li><li>Once you&#8217;ve successfully added all your weightings check to&nbsp;<strong>Calculate as Running Total<\/strong>&nbsp;is selected as&nbsp;<strong>No<\/strong>&nbsp;(if selected as yes, it will calculate your weightings starting from 100 and working down to the final mark).<\/li><li>If you do not wish students to see their weighted grade for the selected columns, scroll down to&nbsp;<strong>Options<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;set&nbsp;<strong>Show this Column to students<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>No<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click<strong>&nbsp;Submit<\/strong>&nbsp;to finish creating the weighted column.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weighted column can be created in the Grade Center that generates a grade based on the result of selected grade columns and their respective percentages.
