Issues may include: No audio or video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Poor audio or video<\/li><li>Garbled audio<\/li><li>Distorted or&nbsp;pixelated video<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The following troubleshooting steps may help resolve issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use a headset whenever possible.\u00a0Avoid using the\u00a0computer&#8217;s built-in audio components. This helps prevent environmental noises from being picked up by the on-board microphone.<\/li><li>Check to see that the correct speakers are selected for your OS.<ul><li>Mac go to Apple > System Preferences > Sound.<\/li><li>Windows go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound or search for Sound and select Sound from the Control Panel in the search menu.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Make sure the proper audio device is selected for use\u00a0by Collaborate Ultra.<ul><li>Click on My Settings (your avatar) > Audio and Video Settings > Setup Your Camera and Microphone.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Make sure the microphone is located appropriately.<ul><li>Placing the microphone directly\u00a0under your\u00a0nose will result in breathing being heard by session participants.<\/li><li>Placing the microphone\u00a0too far away from your mouth will result in low audio and the\u00a0possibility of environmental noise being captured.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Make sure that you are using a supported web browser. In general, Chrome works best.<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Collaborate\/Ultra\/Administrator\/About_Collaborate\/Browser_Support\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to see a list of supported browsers<\/a><br>\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Make sure your web browser is\u00a0up to date. Current browsers have been tested against Collaborate Ultra and can include fixes for known issues.<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Find-Your-Browser-Type-and-Version\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for instructions on how to check your web browser version<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Disable AdBlockers and extensions, refresh your Collaborate Ultra session. If necessary try\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/chrome\/answer\/95464?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Chrome in an Incognito<\/a>\u00a0window or Firefox in a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/kb\/private-browsing-use-firefox-without-history\" target=\"_blank\">Private window<\/a>.<\/li><li>Try a different supported web browser.\u00a0<\/li><li>Try clearing web browser cache and restarting the\u00a0session.<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for instructions on\u00a0clearing browser cache<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Close out of your web browser and reopen it.<\/li><li>Reboot your computer.<\/li><li>Check for sustained high CPU usage which is an indicator that\u00a0your computer is working too hard.\u00a0 High CPU usage for our intents and purposes is defined as sustained CPU usage of 90% &#8211; 100%, meaning the CPU Usage doesn&#8217;t often fall below that level or frequently returns to that level.\u00a0High CPU usage is most commonly seen when using an older computer or when too many programs are running.<ul><li>On Windows open the Task Manager\u00a0(ctrl+alt+delete > Task Manager).\u00a0 Total CPU usage is shown at the bottom of the Task Manager screen.<\/li><li>On a Mac, open the Activity Monitor (Go>Utilities>Activity Monitor).\u00a0 Total CPU usage is shown at bottom of the Activity Monitor screen.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Fix-High-CPU-Usage\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for instructions on how to fix\u00a0high CPU usage<\/a><\/li><li>Shut down any unnecessary programs that are running on the computer before starting your Collaborate Ultra\u00a0session.
